Minister Palani Digambaran requested the IGP to transfer the Pussellawa Police OIC over the suicide of an inmate inside a cell in the police station.

The individual, 28-year-old Nadarajah Ravichandran, was arrested last night. He had committed suicide by hanging using his shirt during the night.

Two police personnel, including an IP and a PC have been suspended over the incident.

A group of residents in the area held a protest today at Pussellawa, which was stopped after Digambaran's intervention.
