The Ministry of Education today hit back at the Government Medical Officers' Association saying that the government doctors are seeking preferential treatment in demanding the most popular schools for their children.
The Education Ministry, in a media release, alleged that the doctors are demanding only the top schools for their children, including Royal College, Visakha Vidyalaya, Ananda College and Dharmaraja.
Overall, the doctors are demanding their children be enrolled in 12 leading schools in the country.
While their requests could be entertained on the basis of their transfers, some doctors are demanding such treatment even when they have been transferred to towns which are nearby, the ministry said.
The ministry also maintained that the doctors are seeking preferencial treatment over other profesionals and that using their profession as leverage in this manner could not be entertained.
