Major General Kamal Gunaratne, who was the Commander of the 53rd Division in the latter stage of the Sri Lankan Civil War described how Army Commander Sarath Fonseka allegedly reprimanded him instead of praising him after LTTE leader Prabhakaran was killed.
According to Gunaratne, Fonseka had been disappointed that Prebhakaran had been killed in the mangroves the day after the army had swept the area and said that there were no terrorists left in the area.
Fonseka repeatedly asked what if Prabhakaran had escaped, even after he had been killed, Gunaratne writes in his book "Road to Nandikadal."
