President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe are deceiving their respective followers by claiming that they are going to form governments in 2020, JVP Politburo Member and National Trade Union Center Chairman K. D. Lal Kantha said.

Speaking at the Education Co-op General Employee Union 5th national convention today, Lal Kantha said that Sirisena and Wickremesinghe are contradicting themselves when they promise to form a government of their own.

"If the concensus government is really good, why do they want to go back and form a government on their own in 2020?" he asked.

The two leaders and the key members of the two parties are giving false promises to their followers and enjoying the benefits of the government, he added.

Lal Kantha also called on the trade unions to be vigilant of the government as it has already made moves to privatize state institutions.
