Former Chief Engineer at Ceylon Electricity Board Dr. Tilak Siyambalapitiya said that the CEB always have plans for the future but politicians, who are the decision makers, are blocking the way to implement them.
Taking part in the 'Face the Nation' talk show on TV 1, he said that the CEB has always had plans projected for 20 years. However, implementation is the problem because it involves political decisions, he added.
For example, Sampur Power plant was projected to be opened in 2016. However, it was not carried out and no alternative has also been found, he added.
If the governments are not making decisions, blocking the decisions are generally undecided, it will ruin the plans made by the CEB, he added.
