Australian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka expresses happiness about the state of education in Sri Lanka.
Mr.Bryce Hutchesson told that Sri Lanka continues to strive for excellence in education for all Sri Lankans. He was speaking at a meeting with teachers and students of Sujatha Balika Vidyalaya of Narahenpita. The meeting had been organized to mark International Literacy Day. World Bank Country Director Idah Pswarayi Riddihough was also present.
Australia and World Bank support Sri Lanka's primary and secondary education through 'Transforming School Education Programme', which is known as TSEP. Sujatha Vidyalaya is one school directly benefited by the programme.
Since 2010, Australia has provided more than 5.3 billion Rupees to TSEP. This programme helps to built better infrastructure and provides education materials for 4 million school children
