The Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court today granted permission for the remains of former Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickremetunge to be exhumed on September 27.

This order was given considering a request made by the CID.

Wickrematunge was murdered in Attidiya on January 8, 2009, on his way to work.

The investigation in to the murder was reopened after President Maithripala Sirisena came to power in January 2015. An army intelligence officer was recently arrested over the murder and is in remand custody.
