22 Navy personnel were injured when a bus toppled near the Malwathu Oya Bridge in Vavuniya last night.

The bus was transporting 55 Navy personnel who were returning from a training at Silavatura, Damana Navy Camp at Mannar when it veered off the road at around 8.15pm last night.

Witnesses stated that the driver could not control the speed of the bus since the visibility was low because of the rain.

Twenty injured personnel were admitted to the Vavuniya Hospital and one official was transferred to National Hospital Colombo since his condition was critical.
