Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Ministry Secretary Nimal Bopage, in a media release, criticized some media organizations for what he called ‘illegal, immoral and professionally unethical’ misuse of the term 'Joint Opposition' to promote a section of the MPs of one governing party.

Bopage said that there were reports of some media organizations and journalists engaging in this practice.

He added that the government and the opposition has been clearly defined in the Parliament and it was wrong to use the term 'Joint Opposition'.
