The individual who was arrested for threatening the President and Prime Minister through a Facebook video was remanded till May 6 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohammed Mihal.

He was arrested upon his return to the country from Malaysia. He had been deported from Malaysia for staying in the country without a visa.

He was arrested on charges of death threat and criminal intimidation against the President and Prime Minister.

The CID informed court that he had incited the security forces to assassinate the President and Prime Minister.

He uploaded the video from Malaysia after the arrest of Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera in January and demanded the immediate release of the monk. Gnanasara Thera was arrested for alleged contempt of court.
