The International Cricket Council refuted the reports on imposing a ban on Kusal Janith Perera, saying that even the preliminary inquiry has not been completed.

This observation was made by ICC Media and Communications Department Head Sami Ul Hasan to the BBC.

Perera failed a test for a banned substance and was suspended from competitive cricket late last year.
