Minister Daya Gamage was appointed the UNP Senior Deputy Chairman at the party Working Committee meeting this morning.

The post of National Organizer, which was held by Gamage, will be abolished.

Meanwhile, several other appointments were also made at the meeting.

Harsha de Silva and Ruwan Wijewardena were appointed as Assistant Secretaries of the party. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam was appointed as President of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya, the party trade union. Kavinda Jayawardene was appointed as President of the youth wing, the National Youth Front.

Meanwhile, Harin Fernando was appointed as President of Ceylon National Estate Workers Union and Anoma Gamage was appointed as President of the party women's wing, the Lak Vanitha Peramuna
