Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka today stated that Horana would be converted into an industrial city and land acquisition for the project will be commenced in near future.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new market complex at Bandaragama in Kalutara District, he said that the spillover effect of the development of the industrial city will reach Bandaragama.

Furthermore, he revealed that Panadura will be turned into a transport hub.

Following the opening of the Southern Highway, road connections from Bandaragama to nearby towns improved, he pointed out. The town will now be converted to a professionals' hub, Ranwaka said.
