The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Karunasena Hettiarachchi stated that a statement he made had been misinterpreted by the media.

Hettiarachchi stressed in a statement that he never took the incident of discovering explosives from Chavakachcheri lightly. However, he claims that he took measures to not to panic the public regarding the incident and requests not to try to gain political advantages from that.

Hettiarachchi further stated that all intelligence agencies are vigilantly attending on their duties.  

A suicide vest, explosives and bullets were discovered from a house in Chavakachcheri in Jaffna District, on 30th March.
