Uva Provincial Council JVP member Samantha Vidyaratne lodged a complaint to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption yesterday against Uva Chief Minister Chamara Sampath Dassanayake alleging misappropriation of council funds.

The funds misappropriated amount to Rs. 10.3 million, the complainant said.

Speaking to the media after submitting the complaint Vidyaratne alleged that misuse of council funds had increased after Sampath Dissanayake assumed office as chief minister.

Vidyarathna also said that he was prepared for a public debate with the chief minister if he wants to claim not guilty to the allegations made against him.
