Power was not restored in some parts of Meegoda until this morning after a breakdown last evening.
A resident of the area told Asian Mirror that he had attempted to contact the Power Breakdown Unit of Colombo West on its number (0112146464) but solicited no response. Electricity Consumer Hotline 1987 was also not responsive and the Padukka Substation was not aware of a breakdown, he further said.
This person was successful in contacting the Power Breakdown Unit this morning and was told that a tree had fallen to an electricity power line, cutting off power.
"Someone called and told us. But we cannot find the location and the person who called did not give the location" the Breakdown Unit told the customer.
The resident told Asian Mirror that it took merely ten minutes for him and a few others to locate the place where the accident had taken place.
"CEB negligence is unbelievable" the resident said.
"If this is the state of affairs, why do we need engineers and a Minister?" he asked
