Police have launched an investigation into the alleged assault of a girl during the recent protest in support of the ousted Southlands College Principal Shanthi Seneviratne.
Seneviratne is alleged to have instigated the protest by a few people who claimed to be past pupils and parents of present students.
During the protest, a girl who was recording the event using her mobile phone was allegedly assaulted by a woman.
Police yesterday sought permission from the Galle Magistrate to obtain video footage pertaining to the incident from media stations. The Galle Magistrate considered the request and allowed police to obtain necessary footage.
