UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra and the eight other suspects are to appear in Colombo Magistrate Courts today over the recent abduction of a youth in Dematagoda.

The abduction, which was done using a Defender Jeep belonging to Premachandra, took place on December 21. Eight of her supporters were earlier arrested and released on bail on January 6.

Meanwhile, Premachandra was arrested for alleged complicity in the abduction on Saturday, and was later released on bail.

The youth who was abducted has alleged that Premachandra threatened him after the abduction on December 21 evening. He was released later that night.
