A 21-year-old man was killed in a tragic train accident yesterday morning after he struck a utility pole while travelling on the footboard of a train.

According to the Police, the victim had been aboard a train traveling from Polgahawela to Colombo and was involved in the incident near Kiribathgoda.

The deceased, identified as a resident of Ganemulla, was thrown off the footboard after the collision with the pole.
