UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra set a new world record when she was arrested and bailed out in the shortest ever time, UPFA MP and Pivithuru Hela Urumaya General Secretary Udaya Gammanpila claimed today.
Speaking at a press conference at the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya head office, he said that he had predicted this outcome days earlier.
If an ordinary citizen who was arrested on Friday, he or she would have to wait till Monday to be bailed out, Gammanpila said. However, Premachandra was arrested and bailed out on Saturday. "It is as if the registrar's office at courts was kept open in anticipation to bail out Premachandra" the UPFA MP said.
Gammanpila had claimed at a recent press conference that there was a plan to release Premachandra immediately after her arrest.
