Former national cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga today vowed that he will take legal action against Sri Lanka Cricket President Thilanga Sumathipala over some of his recent remarks.
On January 3, Ranatunga hit out at Sumathipala following the latter's victory at the Sri Lanka Cricket elections. Ranatunga said that the game of cricket has fallen under the control of a business-mafia.
Sumathipala responded on the following day, leveling several allegations against Ranatunga. Sumathipala also vowed legal action.
Ranatunga responded today by refuting all allegations and saying that he will also take legal action against Sumathipala.
He also reiterated that the game had fallen under the control of a business mafia.
"I lost the election as Deputy President to Jayantha Dharmadasa and K. Mathivanan, both who have not played the game" Ranatunga said, insisting that former players have been sidelined in cricket administration role by the 'business clique'.
However, Ranatunga also said that he will not let his differences with Sumathipala affect the government.
Ranatunga is the Minister of Ports and Shipping while Sumathipala is the Deputy Speaker.
