Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran held a closed-door meeting with Mannar Bishop Rayappu Joseph at the Bishop's House in Mannar last night.
The media was not allowed to cover the meeting.
Following the meeting, Wigneswaran acknowledged that the establishment of the Tamil People's Council was discussed.
This meeting comes days after the meeting between the Bishop and the EPRLF leader Suresh Premachandran. The EPRLF leader, who is a former TNA MP, told media that the Bishop congratulated the newly established TPC.
The meeting between Wigneswaran and the influential Catholic Bishop comes as the gap between the Northern Province CM and the TNA leadership seems to be widening.
