The Attorney General instructed for the arrest of UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra over the recent abduction of a youth in Dematagoda, Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

Accordingly the Colombo Crimes Division will carry out the instructions, he said.

The police had earlier sought the AG's advice over the arrest of Premachandra over the recent abduction of a youth in Dematagoda on December 21. Eight supporters of Premachandra were earlier arrested over the incident.

The youth was abducted using a Defender Jeep belonging to Premachandra. Furthermore, the youth who was abducted told police that Premachandra had threatened him.
