The Sri Lanka Economic Forum 2016 began a short while ago at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo.
Opening the forum, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that it was a unique moment for Sri Lanka. He was sharing the panel with Nobel Laureate economist Joseph Stieglitz, Founder Chairman of Open Society George Soros and Professor of the Practice of Economic Development Ricardo Hausman.
The forum will focus on four key areas of risk and opportunity for Sri Lanka, namely, macroeconomic and fiscal stability, structural transformation and competitiveness, urbanization and development and regional development and social inclusion, the Prime Minister's Office said yesterday.
The forum will be concluded tomorrow.
