The eight suspects who were in remand custody over the abduction of a youth in Dematagoda were released on two sureties of Rs 100,000 each by Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohammed Mihal.
Meanwhile, the identification parade of the suspects was also held today. Witnesses identified all suspects arrested for the abduction. The 11-year-old child who is a witness was able to identify five of them.
The Attorney General informed court that statements were being studied to determine the necessity of arresting any further suspects involved.
The abduction took place on December 21 and involved a Defender Jeep belonging to UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra. The abducted youth told police that Premachandra threatened him. However, she denies the allegation.
