Malaysia Airlines has said a plane that was forced to turn back from its designated flight path because of a landing gear malfunction has landed safely in Kuala Lumpur.
Flight MH192 with 159 passengers and seven crew had been heading from Kuala Lumpur to Bangalore when a problem was detected with the Boeing 737-800 aircraft's right-hand landing gear, the airline said.
Last month a Malaysian Airlines flight disappeared on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing under unexplained circumstances.
The search for its presumed wreckage is still continuing in the Indian Ocean where an unmanned submarine is continuing its search for any signs of MH370.
Financial aid
A Malaysian official on Sunday met with relatives of passengers who were aboard the jetliner that went missing 44 days ago, and discussed ways of providing them with financial assistance.
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Hamzah Zainuddin met with the passengers' relatives in Kuala Lumpur to talk about where to go next.
Financial assistance was discussed and family members were urged to submit a plan for consideration. He declined to elaborate further, but said a fund could possibly be set up by the government or Malaysia Airlines. (Al Jazeera)
