Following the statement issued by the Director General of Government Information regarding the excessive number of state vehicles, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said the information provided was not accurate.

In a letter to the Director General of Government Information, Rajapaksa stated that the total number of assigned vehicles is six. Following instructions from the Presidential Secretariat, three of these vehicles, including an ambulance, will be returned on Monday, 21 october.
The Director General in his statement said, Rajapaksa had 16 State vehicles and eight out of them had been returned.
