Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate for National People's Power (NPP), has promised that September 21 will signal the end of what he describes as a 76-year political curse on Sri Lanka.
Speaking at a recent rally, Anura lamented the Sri Lanka’s fall from its former glory as the "pearl of the Indian Ocean" to a state struggling with debt and economic challenges. He criticized the ruling political groups over the past decades, accusing them of causing national embarrassment and leading the country into severe hardship.
He outlined the pressing issues faced by Sri Lankans, including food shortages, inadequate educational facilities, medicine scarcities, and a lack of opportunities for youth. He emphasized the need to break free from what he termed a long-standing political curse.
