Sajith Premadasa, the presidential candidate of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya, has vowed to tackle land and housing challenges through his Gamudawa initiative. He criticized previous administrations under Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Ranil Wickremesinghe for halting housing projects in the Batticaloa district, where he had previously overseen the construction of numerous homes. He accused both leaders of withholding funds, which stalled the completion of these projects.
Sajith promised that, if elected, his administration would resume and complete the unfinished housing projects, establish new villages, and allocate land. Additionally, he vowed to protect traditional farmlands and address issues related to human-elephant conflicts.
