President Ranil Wickremesinghe unveiled plans to expand both public and private educational institutions across Sri Lanka. Speaking at the inauguration of the "Times School of Higher Education" at Galle Face Hotel in Colombo on Thursday, he highlighted that these new institutions will elevate the standards of higher education to meet global benchmarks.
The President announced a government initiative to fund vocational training for 50,000 youths, aiming to complement existing programs and address future job market demands. He projected that the expansion of educational institutions would support the creation of approximately 100,000 new jobs in various sectors.
The newly inaugurated Times School will provide diploma courses for A-level graduates and include a digital academy to enhance skills relevant to the evolving digital economy.
