Presidential candidate Dilith Jayaweera of the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ criticized the four candidates who failed to attend a scheduled public debate, asserting they have forfeited their right to address the nation further. Speaking at an election rally in Chilaw on September 8, Dilith said that the debate was an opportunity for the candidates to present their plans to the public without any cost, as all broadcasting facilities were prepared to cover it live.
He expressed frustration over the absence of these candidates, questioning the sources of their campaign funds, particularly for those advocating anti-corruption measures while conducting numerous rallies. He suggested that the funds required might be sourced from questionable means, urging transparency in campaign financing.
Meanwhile, at a rally in Kurunegala, Dilith Jayaweera , defended his political stance and commitment to his nationalist camp, contrasting it with the actions of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa,
He assured supporters that his alliance's political strategies would remain steadfast and not negatively impact their base.
