CID Gives Permission to Detain Court Evidence Custodian Over Missing Heroin

The Colombo Chief Magistrate has authorized the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to detain and interrogate the custodian responsible for the evidence room at the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court. This action follows the recent discovery of a large quantity of heroin missing from the court’s evidence storage.

The court had earlier directed the CID to investigate the disappearance of 12 kg of heroin, valued at approximately Rs. 240 million. The Chief Magistrate’s permission for detention and questioning comes in response to a formal request by the CID.
