India Helps Rescue Sri Lankan Fishermen

The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo, in collaboration with MRCC Chennai, successfully rescued four Sri Lankan fishermen stranded on a distressed fishing trawler.

The trawler, which left Point Pedro Fisheries Harbour on July 7, 2024, was located approximately 447 nautical miles off Sri Lanka’s east coast.

Following a distress alert from the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, MRCC Colombo coordinated with MRCC Chennai, which dispatched an Indian fishing trawler for the rescue.
