Thalatha Atukorale, a Member of Parliament from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), announced her resignation today, citing internal disagreements within the party. Speaking in Parliament, Atukorale expressed her concerns over the inclusion of members from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), whom she previously labeled as corrupt, now joining the SJB.
In her statement, Atukorale criticized SJB leader Sajith Premadasa, suggesting that his impatience might lead the party into further challenges. She warned that those advising Premadasa were more interested in securing parliamentary seats than in making him President.
