Superyacht Capsizes Off Sicily Coast, One Dead and Six Missing

A luxury superyacht capsized and sank off the coast of Sicily early Monday morning amid a severe storm, leaving one person confirmed dead, six missing, and 15 others rescued. The yacht, identified as the British-flagged "Bayesian," was owned by the family of UK tech tycoon Mike Lynch, who is among the missing.

The incident occurred near the port of Porticello around 5 am, as the vessel was reportedly struck by a tornado. Onboard were a mix of British, American, Canadian, and other international passengers, including people from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, France, and Ireland.

Italian Coast Guard and firefighters rescued 15 people, including a one-year-old child, while eight of the survivors were hospitalized. Search and rescue operations continue, involving helicopters, rescue boats, and deep-water divers.
