Elephant Pearls Seized in Separate Raids, Multiple Suspects Arrested

Multiple suspects have been arrested for the illegal possession of elephant pearls, also known as Gajamuthu.

The Ichchalampattu Police, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid in the Poonagar area, where they arrested two people in possession of two elephant pearls. The suspects are residents of the Gokarella area. Further investigations are ongoing.

In another operation, the Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested three people near the Puttalam Lagoon while they were attempting to sell three elephant pearls, valued at approximately Rs. 30 million. The raid was carried out following intelligence from the Sri Lanka Air Force, with undercover officers posing as buyers. Two of the suspects are from Mawanella, and the third is from Puttalam.
