A new luxury bus service connecting Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to key locations in Colombo City was launched today. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Transport & Highways, aims to increase airport accessibility and passenger convenience.
The service operates daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, linking BIA with Port City Colombo, Colombo Fort Railway Station, Colombo Main Bus Stand, and the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Center.
However, the launch has sparked controversy as employees of the existing luxury bus service between Katunayake Airport and Colombo Fort have initiated a strike. Now in its second day, the protest led by the Katunayake Airport-Colombo Fort Luxury Bus Association demands the new service be halted.
The association plans to notify the issue to the Governor of the Western Province and the Election Commission.
