Sri Lankan Soldiers Captured in Ukraine

Five retired Sri Lankan army soldiers who joined the war in Russia have been captured by Ukrainian forces and are now prisoners of war. The Government of Ukraine officially informed the Sri Lankan Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, about the capture, according to the Ministry of Defense.

The soldiers were arrested after crossing into Ukraine from the Russian border. Their families have been informed by the embassy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively involved in preliminary negotiations for their release.
