The Wages Board has officially announced a new daily wage for workers in the tea and rubber sectors, as outlined in a recently issued Gazette. According to the notification, the daily minimum wage for plantation workers is now set at Rs. 1,350, with an additional productive incentive of Rs. 350.
The Gazette, signed by the chairman of the Wages Board, H.K.K.A. Jayasundara, specifies that the wage is subject to deductions for the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF).
Furthermore, the Wages Board has invited any objections to these proposals, which must be submitted by 12 noon on August 28, along with a statement detailing the reasons for the objections.
