Grama Niladhari Officers Continue 'Work-to-Rule' Protest

The Grama Niladhari Officers' union said that while their recent strike has ended, their 'work-to-rule' action remains in place. This form of protest, where officials strictly adhere to their job descriptions, is expected to slow down administrative processes.

Neville Wijeratne, the National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Grama Niladhari Union, expressed concerns over the Service Constitution Gazette, which was issued without the union's input. The ongoing action is a direct response to the government's refusal to revoke the controversial Gazette. Wijeratne said that suspending its issuance does not resolve the union's concerns.
