Several train services were cancelled today as the Locomotive Operating Engineers’ Union initiated strike action over unresolved demands, including promotions.

The Railway Department reported that eight train services, including key office routes from Colombo-Fort Railway Station, were affected this morning. The strike, which began at midnight, was launched in response to the authorities' failure to address the grievances of train drivers, despite repeated appeals.
