33 Navy Teams for Flood Relief Efforts

 

 The Navy has deployed 33 rescue teams to aid flood-affected communities in the Western, Southern, and Sabaragamuwa provinces amidst severe weather conditions. Relief operations are underway in Colombo, Kalutara, Rathnapura, Galle, and Matara districts, with naval personnel using boats to rescue stranded individuals and provide for their daily needs.

As of this morning, 36 individuals have been rescued. Additionally, approximately 400 people have been safely transported, and meals and water distributed to those in need.


- 6 teams in Kaduwela, Meethotamulla, Seethawaka, and Hanwella areas of Colombo district.
- 8 teams in Baduraliya, Bulathsinhala, Ingiriya, and Welipenna areas of Kalutara district.
- 1 team in Kalawana of Rathnapura district.
- 6 teams in Thawalama, Udugama, Baddegama, and Nagoda areas of Galle district.
- 12 teams in Matara, Malimbada, Akuressa, Panathugama, and Kamburupitiya areas of Matara district.

The Navy has also prepared an additional 60 teams to support those impacted by the severe weather conditions.
