Heavy Showers Expected to Continue in Parts of the Island

The Department of Meteorology has announced that the Southwest monsoon conditions are gradually establishing over the island, leading to continued showery and windy conditions. Cloudy skies are expected across most regions.

Showers or thundershowers will occur intermittently in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Some areas in these regions are likely to experience heavy showers exceeding 100mm.

Several pells of showers are anticipated in the Northern and North-central provinces. The island will also experience strong winds, ranging between 40-50 kmph, at times.
