Four individuals suspected of being ISIS terrorists were arrested at Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport by the Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad (ATS). The suspects, believed to be Sri Lankan nationals, were allegedly waiting for their handler at the time of their arrest.
This operation follows a bomb threat received by the airport on May 12, which was later confirmed to be a hoax after a thorough search by security personnel. The threat was sent via email to the airport's official address, prompting an immediate and extensive security response. Commissioner of Police GS Malik confirmed that the airport was scanned thoroughly but no suspicious items were found.
The investigation into the origins of the hoax email and the broader implications of the arrests is ongoing.
