The Colombo High Court has sentenced nine Pakistani nationals to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking. The individuals were arrested during a joint operation by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) and the Sri Lanka Navy on January 1, 2020. They were apprehended while transporting a substantial quantity of illegal drugs by boat.

Authorities seized 614 kg of crystal methamphetamine, known as 'Ice,' and 581 kg and 34 grams of suspected drugs. The Government Analyst's report confirmed the haul included over 491 kg of ketamine and nearly 472 kg of crystal methamphetamine.
