An accident at the Duwemodara railway crossing in Kosgoda yesterday evening as a hand tractor collided with an express train traveling from Matara to Maradana.
One person has been confirmed dead, identified as a 49-year-old resident of Dehigahawela, while another individual sustained injuries.
The driver of the hand tractor, critically injured in the accident, passed away after being admitted to Balapitiya Hospital.
The injured party has been transferred to Karapitiya Hospital for further medical attention.

Kosgoda Police have initiated investigations into the incident.
