The Opposition party, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), has issued a response to a recent letter from the National People's Power (NPP) regarding the scheduling of a public debate between the two parties. In their letter dated April 22nd, the NPP expressed readiness for a debate featuring their leader, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and SJB leader Sajith Premadasa, on May 7, 9, 13, or 14.

In their reply, the SJB noted that they had initially proposed a debate involving the Economic Councils of both parties, which the NPP did not address in their latest communication. They questioned the lack of proposed dates for the Economic Council debate and urged the NPP to confirm whether such a debate would occur.

Additionally, the SJB invited the NPP to discuss and finalize dates for both the party leader debate and the Economic Council debate on April 25th or 26th. This exchange underscores the ongoing efforts by both parties to engage in meaningful public discourse ahead of upcoming political events.
