A judge from the Puttalam Quazi Court has been apprehended for allegedly accepting a bribe amounting to Rs. 5000.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) confirmed the arrest, indicating that the judge was brought before the Puttalam Magistrate’s Court. Following the arrest, the judge was remanded until May 6, 2024.
The Bribery Commission disclosed that the arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by a female resident of Vettalai, Puttalam. Allegedly, the Quazi Court judge requested the bribe in exchange for providing documents related to a divorce case's verdict.
