Today, the National Election Commission is set to convene and address the escalating crisis within the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
Chairman R. M. A. L. Ratnayake has pledged a meticulous review of all documentation submitted by opposing factions within the party. Amid objections raised by the Acting General Secretary, Dushmantha Mitrapala, regarding recent appointments, the commission assures a thorough examination before making any decisions.

Additionally, another faction has formally notified the commission of recent decisions by the party's Politburo, providing detailed documentation of the proceedings.
