Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery, operated by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), is set to undergo a significant turnaround (TAR) beginning this July, lasting for a duration of 45 days. This decision was announced by the CPC on Friday (March 01).
The TAR process, which includes essential maintenance and repair work, is imperative to meet international standards and guarantee the refinery's operational integrity for the next three years. Notably, this upcoming TAR follows the refinery's previous maintenance stint in February 2021.
Once the TAR concludes, the refinery will undergo upgrades aimed at enhancing its capability to meet Sri Lanka's evolving product demands effectively.
Despite the temporary cessation of operations, the CPC reassures the public of an uninterrupted supply of refined products, as they maintain a buffer stock to mitigate any potential disruptions.
